While stationed in Iraq, Pfc. Bradley Manning discovered that he was unknowingly complicit in the torture of Iraqis critical of the corruption within their new government. To bring light to these atrocities, Manning is suspected of leaking evidence of these and other war crimes that were covered up.
For following his conscience and fulfilling his highest military oath to “defend the Constitution,” Manning sits in jail under worse conditions than many terrorists, facing 52 years in prison if convicted.
The American public should know the truth and understand that exposing war crimes is an act of true heroism.
Motivation and Ideas
We can meet outside the gate to the Will Rogers Coliseum and distribute fliers and talk to people about the need for transparency and putting an end to aggressive wars. We recognize the need to show encouragement for potential whistleblowers who could bring forward evidence of government abuse in the future.
For passing cars, we also plan to make signs, such as “Google Bradley Manning.” The Bradley Manning Support Network has some suggestions on its web site. We could collect donations for his defense fund or pass out classified documents Manning is accused of leaking that discuss some of the government’s underhanded behavior.
If you have other ideas or suggestions, please pass them along.
